The concept for the house started off with the idea of street signs. As an architectural element, street signs are very undermined but serve a very important purpose. They ultimately control the circulation of people, traffic, and other architectural elements. The shape of the house is focused on two main large spaces (living/bedroom and kitchen/dining room) which are the locations that are the most important for gathering and symbolize the signs. The linear circulation is controlled by the central hallway that acts as the post/beam. The windows follow a similar rule by using the shape of the street sign connected to another one by a pole, and the heights of the windows are determined by the privacy of each room to the outside. The site is regulated by the unique pushing and pulling shape that the outline of a street sign creates. The aggregation of the units also correlates to this shape and is also altered for the best sunlight.
