Phase 1b: Nathaniel Staniak

PROJECT TEAM: Aveiya Gordon, Malhar Kate, Damla Sucuka

I decided to photograph the shelter model on the south landing of Crown Hall. This is because the shelter is designed for use in an urban area, specifically in a neighborhood like Bronzeville. Having crown hall in the background helps represent this urban context. I also masked a blur around the shelter in the background, starting about 6 inches behind it to soften up the lines of Crown Hall so that it doesn’t distract from the model itself.
  • Here is an image of the front elevation of the project. I also decided to photograph this one in the south landing of Crown Hall, but this time in the evening as the sun was a little lower in the sky. This gives a little bit of a different context to the shelter, making it seem a lot more inviting and private. It seems that was because there isn’t much to shade you from the sunlight, so a time where the sun is low would be the best to experience the pavilion. I also applied a blur to the background of this image to keep the focus on the project.
