This is the assignment discussed in class on Monday 4/6. Your sketchbook post is is due on the day you have your desk crit this week. Ideally you’d all have them done and posted by Wednesday but we won’t discuss until your desk crit so if you have a Wednesday crit please complete by studio and same for Friday. UPDATE: ALL DUE ON FRIDAY
The intent of this assignment is that you pick an interesting precedent and learn a couple things from it through the process of close looking and sketching.

BLOG POST FORMAT
TITLE: PROJECT NAME, ARCHITECT
HEADING: STRUCTURAL PRECEDENT
CATEGORIES: PRECEDENTS
TAGS: SPRING 202, ARCH 202, STRUCTURE, YOUR NAME
Start with a slideshow of the relevant pictures and drawings of the precedent. Edit to 6-8 of the best photos. If there’s an animation or other structural drawings keep separate as an image. Follow with individual images of your spreads (ok to photo with your phone if that’s easiest, just try to get a decent focus and exposure.) No need for text in the blog post other than captions for images. You can use text in your sketches.
EXAMPLE
As promised, I will make a couple sketches based on the example from yesterday. I’ll try to get them posted as soon as I can this afternoon. I’m going to try to spend no more than an hour on my work for this, you should have a similar limit to force yourself to think and sketch quickly.
Here’s the images we looked at earlier in class:
Art House, Portland, Lever Architects
For reasons of space I’m combining my sketches into slideshows. First my regular sketches:
I didn’t finish my structural sketches, but got a start on a partial wall section and corresponding partial elevation at the ground floor. I spent way too much time trying to draw the perspective parti diagram (and it didn’t work so well as a diagram) I’ll finish and update… UPDATED SKETCHES BELOW
