Main Story of the neighborhood: The main story of the neighborhood that we were trying to present is that Hyde Park is a unique neighborhood on the South Side. In our zoomed out diagrams and maps, we mostly compared other surrounding neighborhoods to Hyde Park to show the contrasts. I was responsible for both a zoomed in map and a zoomed in diagram to show more specifically why this area is unique.

This map is showing the amenities nearing our site and the proximity of our site to these places. This map shows not only how much retail there is in this area that is surrounded by more residential areas, and this gives a deeper context as to what this surrounding area of the site is and how many different parks, cultural centers, and other amenities nearby.
The dots are colored to show the different establishments in this area and the lighter radii around show the walking distance to those specific rings.
(used maps to find information)

For this diagram, I used a piechart to show this different occupations by percentage in Hyde Park.
I thought that this information was interesting because in contrast to other neighborhoods in the South Side, Hyde Park has a higher income and a lower unemployment rate and this shows a closer look as to why this are might have a higher income and the types of people that are living and working in this area. Hyde Park is also known to have much more white collar workers than blue collar. It also makes sense that there is such a majority of people that work in education, as there are many schools nearby and University Chicago is also in this neighborhood which is a large factor. Hyde Park has 25 percent of its residents working in education while in Chicago as a whole only 3 percent work in education.
