STUDY MODELS: EXPLORING SPACE THROUGH DIFFERENT OBJECTS

INTERSECT ( Intersections as points of interaction)

Intersecting paths are create through the use of staples in different orientations. The outer stepped massing represents a stacking of vertical floors that are connected through open corridors. Proceeding along these walksways encourages the user to interact with others, due to their intersecting nature.

OVERLAP

A combosition of staples that is created by the roation of different size staples. The idea is to form a stepped massing, provinding spaces for seating and circulation. The stapple rows are sitting on top of each other. Some of them are turned upsite down and have other smaller rows insterted into them to create these smaller islands of shared space.

GATHER, WEAVE

Erasers are set up as interweaving seating areas. To create an area of interaction or shared space the arrangement of the erasers marks a circulation path through them. The massing are approchable from different sides and can be occupied in a variety of ways. The individual users are encouraged to interact with one another, weave around or have a conversation.
