Final Phase: Damla Sucuka

Located on a given site (W 36th st. Bridgeport, Chicago, IL), this 400ft2 small house in a XS Community is inspired by the earlier 3D collage model I did for studio. Layering technique that later became exposed frames determined the form of the building.

The modules are grouped as three-module clusters on the site and each cluster shares a shared balcony area on the roof that you can enter from the bedrooms. Under the balcony is an enclosed bike storage room for the cluster that can be entered from the outside.

Intended for people dealing with social anxiety, the design gives the residents freedom to choose where and how much social interaction they want; terrace formed by the exposed frames create open but a private space, shared balcony in the middle of the three unit clusters provide a space where residents can interact with their neighbours, the main pathway has small areas for people who prefer enclosure from the surrounding streets and buildings and there is park area on the north side for the whole community.
