- Material: A significant attribute of the R House is its corrugated aluminum siding . Mentioned in reading, it was to contrast winter days in Syracuse, New York, and help with reflecting light.
- Passive House Standards: The R House followed the German Passive House standards, and resulted in a 70% less energy consumption compared to the typical Syracuse home. I think I may want to focus on energy consumption a lot more in my module.
- Loft: The R House used a loft for the bedroom space to overlook the public and have it completely separated based on floor, I may or may not look further into this.
- Angled Roof: I already have an angled roof on my module but constructing the R House’s made me a little hesitant to continue working towards that.
- large windows for sunlight: Initially I had already planned large window walls, after learning about the R House though I may be more critical on the placement of them.
