Phase 4; Documentation; Lilibeth Arreola

At the beginning of my review I informed the reviewers about the context of my site; New vs Old homes, and how the idea of contrast became my overall concept. From the collage to model, to then single module, I always kept this in mind and wanted it to be what I strictly stuck to. I explained how at the beginning I struggled severely, simply because I had already started so architecturally that by the time I had to make a module it was only boxes. I genuinely did not enjoy my study models. After having spoken to professor Hathaway, I was able to try and explore potential ideas.

I knew I wanted to create two distinct spaces in my tiny house, one private, one public. I kept looking at my model and decided to create an irregular shape basing it off the roofs of my two houses. Initially, I had a combination of two boxes, then two irregular, and lastly, one of each. The last study model was the one I was happiest with and knew had a lot of potential.

Once I was actually invested in my design, everything following became a lot easier to do. Decisions kept being made basing it off my initial concept until I was satisfied with my design. One of the reviewers mentioned this had been a successful process for me and advised to continue doing so throughout the rest of the project.

At the end, I was also advised to be critical about material as I continue the project.

A concerned raised was about the radial layout I had ended up choosing. The question of; Are you effectively using the extra space you have now because of the layout? What are you going to put in the enclosed public area vs the exposed?
