PHASE 3: MALHAR KATE

Collage

With my intersection, Emerald Avenue and 33rd Street, I wanted to show the separation from one side of the street to the other side. My first experience of the site was the a complete separation from the residential to the industrial commercial side of the street. I showed this through using windows from the vacant industrial buildings at a large scale, while using roof lines from the residential side of the street at a smaller scale. I wanted to show the scale difference between the buildings of each street side. I also made the industrial layering monochrome in rider to reinforce the idea of the industrialism of the buildings. I also made the collage a gradient to create a transition between one side to the other.

Collage Model

With the Collage Model, I wanted to show the gradation I used in the collage and still continue the concept of opposite sides of the street. To show the opposites sides of the street, I decided to make the residential side of the street a solid mass and the industrial side more planar. The gradation is represented in the collage model with translucent planes and solid black plane that interlock and intersect.
