The Envelope Pavilion was created with an intention to become a private space for users to reflect on their thoughts and meditate. To do so, the spaces become tighter as the user moves through the space, so that the progression reflects them delving into their inner self. Envelope Pavilion was made of two different structures which had long vertical elements of different heights. The verticals allow for privacy. The deck of the two structures invites the outer environment into the pavilion.

In my drawings, I attempt to capture a story of an individual sitting in the pavilion to leaving the pavilion. The line drawings don’t use shading, although a few of the team members did choose to do so. Rather I attempted to show depth through the line weights. One of my more successful drawings were the perspective plan section which showed the curvature and dynamic movement of the vertical elements. The section cut allowed me to show how the two separate structures allowed for movement between them. I chose to do an elevation showing where the opening would be. The context of the pavilion is seen in the trees and grass around the pavilion. In the parts and pieces diagram, I wanted to show how the pieces of wood were cut in the most efficient method. This shows both the materiality as well as part of our process of constructing the pavilion.
