The primary principle of our pavilion is a relief from one’s exercise along the bike path running through north to south Chicago. Placing it along the coast with a specific orientation will also help block any wind that may be present due to the lake. Our designed focused on one module that could be replicated as many times, to interlock and create a space desired by the people. with both a exterior open space and interior covered space, it gives one an option to either sit along the bench for a quick second, or sit on the grass and have more of a private rest.
The construction of our pavilion focused on the alternation members being held together by a threaded rod. along the right side of our pavilion, acrylic strips fill the in between space to act as a barrier to the outside. The acrylic serves as a way to block any wind but still be able to see through.
For the Parts and Pieces drawings, I decided to focus on the alternating members that created the profile that would be repeated. as shown in the drawings, smaller pieces were used to hide the rod and give a cleaner/put together look.
